Custom John Deere Gator XUV
Our client had one goal in mind, to make his Gator the wildest XUV around. He started out by ordering virtually every possible accessory from John Deere, including lighting, larger wheel and tire kit, glass doors with a full roll cage, and even a heating unit.

Next, he chose Sound FX to handle the stereo system and electronics. A multitude of equipment was decided on, including a full stereo system, LED lighting, remote engine start, and backup camera.

The result was a well executed XUV with plenty of power to tackle farm duties, and all of the convenience and fun of great aftermarket accessories.

The John Deere Gator XUV 855 diesel. Equipped with dump body, front brush guard, roll cage, glass front and rear windows, fog and driving lights, and upgraded wheels and tires.

The Gator XUV is as much fun as it is a serious workhorse.

The optional HID lighting systems were removed and rewired to SFX standards. The brackets were removed and powder coated black to match. A Viper 5501 remote start was installed. It can start the engine from a mile away as well as many other attributes. The remote also can dump the rear bed, turn on the LED lighting, and turn on the headlights. The front and rear windows were tinted to reduce glare. A high output set of air horns were also added to guarantee people will get out the way.

The John Deere Gator does not come equipped with a stereo system, so areas had to be created for one. The dashboard was heavily modified to accommodate a Pioneer double din unit. Support beams ran behind the dash and it was important to precisely mount the radio in the exact location. The radio was mounted with custom made CNC aluminum brackets. A custom faceplate was made on the CNC and powder coated to finish the trim. The switches above had to be relocated and were made to fit into the new trim panel. A fifth switch was relocated for additional space. The Pioneer radio is equipped with XM satellite radio, iPod control, a DVD player, and equalizer. Notice the John Deere logo that was programmed into the unit. A custom made USB port was added below for easy access to control an iPod or memory stick.
A custom made speaker enclosure housing a set of JL Audio C3 components was created and attached to the upper roll cage. Using a combination of fiberglass and bendable plywood, a curved enclosure was formed. The entire enclosure was wrapped in black vinyl. A plexiglass John Deere Gator logo was utilized in the center and backlit with green LEDs. Using a Gator image, our CNC programmer cleaned up the image using 3D software and prototyped it out of MDF. Once it was perfected, the logo was cut out of plexiglass. An aluminum trim plate was used to cover the outer edge of the logo, and was milled on the CNC, and powder coated black. The gator logo turns on via the remote control from the Viper 5501 remote starter. Another panel was also created using the plywood to created a headliner, and wrapped in black vinyl.
Using an actual John Deere Gator image, our CNC programmer cleaned up the image using 3D software and prototyped it out of MDF. Once it was perfected, the logo was cut out of plexiglass. Notice the intricate detail the CNC can perform.
A rear amplifier rack was built from MDF, wrapped in black vinyl, and mounted behind the seats. The amplifier cover was powder coated in John Deere Green and can be removed to make adjustments. The amplifier is a JL XD400/4 4 channel amplifier and powers the roof mounted speakers and a subwoofer which is mounted below the front seat. The JL Audio crossovers and amplifier were semi-flushed into the panel, and the edges were rounded over for a clean look.
This image shows the Aura Bass Shaker subwoofer installed under the driver seat, which provides plenty of low frequency bass response. The Bass shaker is a transducer that simulates bass frequency through a mechanical device. It is powered by one half of the JL Audio amplifier. The Bass Engine is perfect for tight spaces such as this and vehicles such as convertibles.
20 High intensity green LED lights were installed in the Gator. They are all turned on via an auxiliary channel from the Viper 5501.
LED lighting was mounted in each wheel well and under the front dashboard. The LEDs are waterproof and were undercoated to achieve maximum reliability.
A mini backup camera was installed on the roof. The bracket was machined from aluminum and formed to achieve the proper angle. It was then powder coated to match. Aluminum screws were used to maintain reliability. The camera turns on when the Gator is put into reverse, or when the customer activates an additional switch that was installed.
The customer needed a power outlet at the rear of the Gator. A marine grade cigarette outlet was used. A custom made aluminum bracket was made and powder coated to match.
